Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent Lady Health Visitor/Midwife for Sindh Region.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine health check-ups for pregnant women, newborns, young children, adults, elderly
  • Monitor growth and development in children and assess immunization status
  • Vaccinate the children following appropriate vaccination protocols
  • Identify early signs of illness, malnutrition, or developmental delays in children and refer individuals to appropriate provider / healthcare facilities as per provided list
  • Provide counselling and health education to mothers, pregnant women, and families regarding topics like prenatal care, breastfeeding, nutrition, hygiene, healthy living practices
  • Carry out home visits to monitor the health and well-being of mothers and children, ensuring they have access to medical care, adequate nutrition, and a safe living environment, where required
  • Provide advice on birth control, hygiene practices, and disease prevention.
  • Offer emotional and psychological support to mothers, especially those with postpartum issues or mental health challenges.
  • Help manage family health problems by giving practical advice and connecting families with healthcare resources.
  • Actively engage with communities to raise awareness about maternal and child health issues.
  • Conduct Elderly Care screenings in the centres and raise awareness in community related to Senior Citizen Health.
  • Organize and conduct awareness sessions, awareness campaigns, and health talks in the community
  • Maintain accurate records of patient visits, health conditions, interventions and nursing notes using HMIS system and paper forms
  • Prepare reports on the health status of individuals and families, highlighting areas that need attention or improvement.
  • Maintain family folders for the community members and trace children’s vaccinations.
  • Provide healthcare services during morning or evening shifts to cater to community needs
  • Keep documentation of stocks and other related quality indicators on given checklists
  • Work closely with medical doctors in managing the patients visiting the center
  • Perform procedures such as infusion, nebulization, and other as advised by the physician
  • Monitor patients vital sign pain assessment on the initial and follow up visit and as per the physician order
  • Perform point of care testing such as hemoglobin and cholesterol
  • Ensure all equipment is functional. Report immediately in case of non-functionality
  • Training and supervising novice staff in an outpatient clinic or healthcare setting is essential for ensuring
  • Make sure that all centre equipment, vaccines, infrastructure etc meet the regulatory requirements of health care licensing bodies such as Sindh Health Care Commission, Dept of Health etc.
  • Performing routine checks and maintenance on medical equipment and responding to any accidental injuries or incidents in the clinic setting
  • Willing to learn new skills such as computer and English language etc.
  • Willing to participate in training programs and implement care services as per organization needs
  • Able to learn computer software for billing and documentation of patient and treatment
  • Provide services at outreach sites and evening hours, as assigned by manager
  • Keep track of PPM for all equipment placed at center
  • Serve as unit receptionist in absence of receptionist which includes cash management
  • Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the efficient operation of the clinic and ensure high-quality patient care

Delivery (At facilities where child delivery is offered):

  • Ensure all equipment for labour is present in the centre
  • Sterilize all the equipment and keep record of PPM
  • Inform management in case of replacement of equipment, when required
  • Conduct patient delivery independently at center
  • Ensure patient care during entire labour process
  • Provide post-partum care to women
  • Provide adequate care to newborns as per protocols
  • Timely refer the high-risk cases to appropriate sites
  • Provide abortion care to relevant clients
  • Offer family planning services to mothers coming with labour

Skills and Qualification:

  • Lady Health Visitor (LHV) / Midwife certification from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration with Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience
