Job Summary
The Database Administrator must have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in administering enterprise-level Oracle and SQL Server database environments, with proven expertise in database security, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high-availability solutions.
Responsibility
The Database Administrator shall be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Administration and maintenance of Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of databases.
- Implementing and monitoring backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Performing database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
- Monitoring and tuning database performance proactively.
- Managing database users, roles, and security controls.
- Coordinating with application, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, SOPs, and reports.
- Providing support during audits, incidents, and post-implementation activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university.
- Professional certifications in Oracle Database Administration (OCA/OCP) and/or Microsoft SQL Server (MCDBA / MCSA / MCSE) will be considered an added advantage.
- The proposed resource must possess a minimum of 10 (ten) years of professional experience as a Database Administrator.
- At least 5 (five) years’ experience working on enterprise-level and/or government sector database systems.
- Proven experience in managing mission-critical and high-availability database environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database (11g/12c/19c) and Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022).
- Expertise in database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations.
- Experience in database capacity planning, storage management, and schema design.
- Strong expertise in Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, and Flashback Technologies.
- Experience with SQL Server Backup/Restore, Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping.
- Advanced skills in SQL query optimization, execution plans, indexing strategies, and performance monitoring.
- Experience in resolving database bottlenecks, deadlocks, and locking issues.
- Proficiency with AWR, ADDM, OEM, SQL Profiler, and Performance Monitor.
- Implementation of database security best practices, including user management, roles, privileges, encryption, and auditing.
- Experience with database hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with government security standards.
- Knowledge of data confidentiality, integrity, and access control policies.
- Experience supporting databases used by enterprise applications, ERP systems, and integrated platforms.
- Knowledge of data replication, ETL support, and coordination with application teams.
- Ability to support data migration between heterogeneous environments.
- Experience working in on-premises centralized and decentralized database environments.
- Familiarity with Oracle Cloud / Microsoft Azure SQL / hybrid database deployments.
- Experience managing databases on Linux and Windows platforms.
