Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Job Summary: The OT Attendant is responsible for providing support services in the Procedure Room, Labour Room and OT by ensuring cleanliness, assisting the relevant staff in patient shifting, maintaining infection prevention standards, and supporting sterilization and preparation of the relevant areas. The position contributes to safe surgical services by ensuring smooth functioning of relevant areas

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent OT Attendant based at RHC Shagram, Upper-Chitral in Chitral Region. 

Key Responsibilities:

A. Patient Handling and Support

  • Assist in shifting patients from ward/emergency, Labour Room, Procedure Room and OT area.
  • Support safe transfer of patients from stretcher to table under guidance of the staff.
  • Assist in positioning patients as directed by Doctors and Staff .
  • Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and respectful handling at all times.
  • Support post-operative shifting of patients to recovery room/ward.

B. OT Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness of  Room, Labour room and OT, scrub area, corridors, and recovery room as per hospital SOPs.
  • Clean and disinfect OT tables, trolleys, floors, and surfaces before and after procedures.
  • Ensure proper cleaning of Room, Labour room and  OT furniture, waste bins, and storage areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of washrooms and handwashing stations in Room, Labour room and OT area.

C. Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)

  • Follow Procedure Room, Labour room and OT infection control protocols and ensure aseptic environment.
  • Assist in segregation and safe disposal of biomedical waste and sharps.
  • Ensure safe handling and disposal of contaminated linen and surgical waste.
  • Use PPE (mask, gloves, gown, cap, shoe covers) as required.
  • Support preparation of disinfectant solutions and ensure proper usage.

D. Support in Sterilization and Instrument Handling

  • Assist in cleaning, packing, and transportation of surgical instruments to CSSD/autoclave area.
  • Support sterilization process under supervision of the Nursing Lead and Incharge of Labour Room, Procedure Room and OT
  • Maintain sterile supply storage and ensure safe handling of sterile packs.
  • Assist in shifting of sterile sets and surgical supplies to Labour Room, Procedure Room and OT as required.

E.  Supplies and Logistics Support

  • Assist in arranging Labour Room, Procedure Room and OT supplies such as gauze, cotton, gloves, syringes, suction bottles, linen, and disposable items.
  • Maintain Labour Room, Procedure Room and OT  stock levels and inform supervisor regarding shortages.
  • Assist in transporting medicines, oxygen cylinders, and emergency equipment when required.
  • Ensure Labour Room, Procedure Room and OT   trolleys are stocked and ready for surgery.

F. Documentation and Reporting Support

  • Assist staff in maintaining cleanliness checklists and waste disposal records (if assigned).
  • Maintain record of linen movement and consumables usage (if assigned).
  • Support during audits, inspections, and supervision visits.

G. Coordination and Other Duties

  • Coordinate with wards, emergency, laboratory, and radiology for smooth Procedure Room, Labour Rooma and OT operations.
  • Support the team during emergency surgeries and mass casualty incidents.
  • Assist in transporting surgical specimens to laboratory as directed.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by In-Charge or Facility Management related to Procedure Room, Labour Room and OT.

H. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Cleanliness and readiness of the relevant Rooms before and after procedures.
  • Safe and timely shifting of patients to and from the procedure Room, Labour Room and OT.
  • Compliance with infection prevention and waste disposal standards.
  • Proper support in handling sterile instruments and relevant room supplies.
  • Responsiveness during emergency surgical cases.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Matric, Health-related certificate and diploma included CMWs, Health technician education preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in OT, Procedure  & Labour  Room hospital setting preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital/OT/ procedure room environment preferred.
  • Must comply with OT SOPs, IPC guidelines, and hospital safeguarding policies
  • Training in infection control and hospital hygiene will be an advantage
  • Results-driven, ethical and adaptable professional with a strong service and stakeholder focus.
  • Strong integrity with the sensitivity to manage confidential information.
  • Demonstrates superior organizational skills and the agility to multitask and assume changing strategic responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
