The Role:

The selected candidates for Producer Unit (PU) Manger will be expected to implement the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) in Sindh (Project District)

Key Accountabilitie:

The selected candidates for Producer Unit (PU) Manger will be expected to implement and ensure compliance to the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS). He/She will also be responsible but not limited to;

  • Prepare and implement the Continuous Improvement plan for implementing the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) as per the approved KPIs of the project.
  • Field staff capacity building, including Field Facilitators and Women Trainers for implementing Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) and Good Agricultural Practices.
  • Ensure compliance with M&E system of producer units and projects.
  • Ensure the on-time collection, credibility and quality of all types of data as with required parameters by organization/ donor, including lists of farmers, workers (male and female), Result Indicator data, utilization reports etc.
  • Produce the success stories, blogs, research publications and activity details resulting from introduced interventions.
  • Develop and implement a roadmap for the project's interventions/sustainability of Producer Units.
  • Ensure the necessary documentation and training record maintenance at the project level.
  • Develop training material for better Cotton farmers and field teams in the local language.
  • Prepare and submit all types of reports, including activity, monthly highlight, and quarterly, mid-term and end-year reports as required by the organization/ donor within the given timelines.
  • Facilitate donor and organization representatives to conduct credibility checks, monitoring activities and baselines.
  • Organize and conduct meetings, workshops, seminars, visits, and briefings as and when required.
  • Any other assignments required for satisfactory completion of the key role requirements.

About You :

  • Strong understanding of cotton production technology and its sustainability issues.
  • Proven networking, team-building, organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft office MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Experience and ability to work under pressure and within limited timeframes.
  • Willingness for field visits to interiors of lower Sindh for meetings with farmers.
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Fluency in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Education & Experience:
  • Master’s degree in agriculture, preferably in Entomology, Plant Protection, Agronomy or related to Crop Production
  • Experience in coordinating/managing a large number of field teams.
  • Knowledge of BCI Production principles and Criteria.
  • Strong understanding of cotton production technology and its sustainability issues.
  • Must have at least 2-3 years of experience in supervisory roles, preferably in the agriculture sector.
  • Experience in TNA (training needs assessment) Training Design, Training Material development and Training Evaluations.

  • Strong organizational and learning skills;
  • A team player with good interpersonal, communication and networking skills;
  • Comfortable working on one’s own initiative as well as following advice;
  • Flexible and creative in planning and problem solving;
  • Willing to travel to remote and challenging locations in Pakistan.
  • Applicant for this role needs to be honest, dedicated, social, motivated, disciplined, and self-organized to deliver quality work at prescribed deadlines.
  • Ability to plan work schedules to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Effective team player and conversant with a transdisciplinary approach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, Self-motivated, an enthusiastic team player.

  • Reporting to: Project Coordinator
  • Contract Duration: 3 years with three months’ probation period
  • Key Peer group: Producer Unit Managers, M&E Assistants,
  • Direct reports: Field Facilitators
