Job Description

Job Title                  :         Optometrist

Location                  :         Gilgit

Work Hours             :         40 hours per week

Reporting To            :         Head of Eye Department at Saif-ur-Rehman Hospital, Gilgit Project Coordinator – SHIP Project

Responsible For      : Implementation of project activities as per approved project proposal/implementation plan which includes;

1. Conduct visual acuity testing training of teachers and provide refraction and examination to the children identified at schools.  
2. Organize visual screening camps within the communities where needed.
3. Responsible for coordinating with Assistant Education Officers, Head Teachers, and trained teachers to ensure the smooth functioning of project activities, including teacher training, refractions, data collection, etc.
4. Collect, collate, and report Key Performance Indicators.
5. Collect interesting case studies to showcase the impact of the work.
6. Develop and share monthly work plans with the project coordinator and line manager.
7. Organize awareness sessions with selected parents in collaboration with School Management Committees (SMCs).
8. Refer children to Saif-ur-Rehman Hospital for further examination by an Ophthalmologist if needed.  
9. Any other work assigned by the Project Manager when and where required.

Required Qualification and Experience:

1. BSc – Vision Sciences (Optometry)
2. Minimum 1-2 years’ clinical experience
3. Knowledge of database management system
4. Able to use MS Word and MS Excel
5. Good in report writing
