Job Description
Job Title : Optometrist
Location : Gilgit
Work Hours : 40 hours per week
Reporting To : Head of Eye Department at Saif-ur-Rehman Hospital, Gilgit Project Coordinator – SHIP Project
Responsible For : Implementation of project activities as per approved project proposal/implementation plan which includes;
- Conduct visual acuity testing training of teachers and provide refraction and examination to the children identified at schools.
- Organize visual screening camps within the communities where needed.
- Responsible for coordinating with Assistant Education Officers, Head Teachers, and trained teachers to ensure the smooth functioning of project activities, including teacher training, refractions, data collection, etc.
- Collect, collate, and report Key Performance Indicators.
- Collect interesting case studies to showcase the impact of the work.
- Develop and share monthly work plans with the project coordinator and line manager.
- Organize awareness sessions with selected parents in collaboration with School Management Committees (SMCs).
- Refer children to Saif-ur-Rehman Hospital for further examination by an Ophthalmologist if needed.
- Any other work assigned by the Project Manager when and where required.
Required Qualification and Experience:
- BSc – Vision Sciences (Optometry)
- Minimum 1-2 years’ clinical experience
- Knowledge of database management system
- Able to use MS Word and MS Excel
- Good in report writing
