CARE started its operations in Pakistan as CARE International Pakistan (CP) in 2005 and is currently registered in the country with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Economic Affairs Division (EAD). Since our establishment, CIP has worked across all geographies in Pakistan, from the most vulnerable remote areas to developed urban cities to support people in overcoming poverty through creating opportunities for self-reliance. 

Internship Objective

As part of the Communications team, and in coordination with various short-term and long-term projects, the Communications Intern will be responsible for, creating and publishing content, overseeing office activities, brainstorming ideas and gathering content for publications, drafting press releases, monitoring media coverage and attending both external and internal events.

The intern's primary duty is to ensure smooth internal operations, provide essential support to the Communications department, and maintain the organization's external image. They will be responsible for maintaining all program files and information/databases in both hard and soft copy formats, adhering to CARE and donor policies. Creating marketing materials, managing social media networks, creating databases for managing donors, events, communications, and marketing data. Drafting and editing publication materials, creating social media content and assisting in the execution of communications projects and strategies. The Communications Intern will work closely with the Communications department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • The position of Communications Intern will directly report to Director Business Development, Communication & Advocacy and will closely work with the Communications and Project teams.
  • Offer support to all teams in designing and editing materials for a range of audiences and contexts, including research and meeting reports, case studies, briefs.
  • Support all staff with presentation design and critical eye for data visualization communication.
  • Liaise with graphic designers, videographers, photographers and other vendors to develop and produce materials.
  • Ensure branding and style compliance, and represent Communication Team policies and guidelines across all materials as per CARE branding guidelines.
  • Offer administrative support to the Communications Team in tracking products and materials according to deadlines.
  • Support CARE’s presence at selected local and global conferences by managing exhibit arrangements, coordinating staff support, and materials.
  • Coordinate or lead communication related training or events for staff or partners.
  • The communications intern must have knowledge of design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • The communications intern must also have a good understanding of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
    Support Communications Team in managing SEO-friendly content for CARE Website and other Care-managed microsites; suggest areas for improvement and edit for consistency and accuracy.
  • Backstop the CARE blog by soliciting creative posts from staff and guest bloggers, as well as editing and promoting content.
  • Support Communications Team in creating, editing and posting creative content on CARE’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn platforms using translated technical content and program updates.
  • Support Communications Team in repurposing and creating fresh content for newsletters and other direct communication.
  • Support Communications Team in maintaining a collection of photos, graphics, icons, infographics, and data bites video clips to use in various digital content.
  • Regularly monitor website and social media metrics and analyze monthly.
  • Maintain digital databases and support the physical library of CARE tools and resources.
  • Expand digital dissemination outlets for information sharing such as websites, webinars, social media, videos, data visualizations, infographics, emails, etc.
  • Document success stories from the project based on information received from the partners and field offices.
  • Assist the project teams in reviewing and archiving in a compliant manner all project documents.
  • Ensure that all the documents received from field are properly reviewed and verified. Identify gaps in documentation and ensure accuracy.
  • Support the project teams in ensuring that systems are in place to periodically capture and document learning related to success and failures occurring during the program period.
  • Work with the Communications Team to develop and implement US and global media strategies that advance CARE’s visibility and research utilization.
  • Coordinate responses to incoming media inquiries, review of press releases, and monitor relevant news coverage.

Qualifications & Experience.

Minimum 6 months internship experience in the communications department with reputable NGO.

Experience in creating and publishing content, overseeing office activities, brainstorming ideas and developing newsletters and other publications. They will also write press releases, monitor media coverage, and attend both external and internal events.

Experience of working with International NGOs

Proficiency in regional languages preferred.
