About the role:
Social Mobilizer will play a key role in the Green Church Initiative Phase 2 project by engaging and mobilizing communities to actively participate in project activities. The role involves building strong relationships with community members, facilitating awareness sessions, organizing community meetings, and ensuring effective communication between the project team and the local population. The Social Mobilizer will work closely with stakeholders to promote sustainable practices and support the successful implementation of the project’s objectives.
About the Project:
PMS is going to implement the Green Church Initiative Phase-II project in Faisalabad, targeting 10 local churches across both urban and rural areas, with an expected impact on 24,500 individuals at the household level. The initiative will engage local influencers, religious and community leaders, and relevant stakeholders, including NGOs, academia, and government departments, to promote environmental sustainability and social empowerment.
Your impactful goals will include:
1. Church and Community Engagement:
- Build trust and establish relationships with Church and community members, leaders, and local organizations.
- Promote open and respectful communication to understand the community's concerns and aspirations.
2. Conducting Assessments:
- Conduct surveys, assessments, and research to gather information about the Church and community's needs, challenges, and strengths.
- Identify key priorities and issues that require attention.
3. Project Planning and Implementation:
- Collaborate with Church, community members, and stakeholders to develop project plans and initiatives that address identified needs.
- Create realistic timelines for the implementation of project activities after discussion with the team and supervisor.
4. Advocacy and Awareness-Raising:
- Raise awareness about issues affecting the Church, community, and the projects being implemented.
- Ensure all the relevant information is clearly communicated to the stakeholders, beneficiaries, and Church leadership.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Continuously monitor the progress and impact of projects within the Church and community.
- Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
6. Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all activities, including progress reports, budgets, and other relevant documentation.
- Create reports that demonstrate the impact of the work and ensure transparency and accountability to stakeholders, donors, and the community.
7. Capacity Building:
- Provide training and support to Church and community members, empowering them to actively participate in project activities.
- Strengthen the community's ability to sustain and manage projects independently.
8. Conflict Resolution and Mediation:
- Address and mediate conflicts within the Church and community that may arise during project implementation.
- Promote unity and cooperation among community members.
9. Cultural Sensitivity:
- Respect and acknowledge cultural norms, values, and traditions within the community.
- Ensure that projects and interventions are culturally sensitive and relevant.
10. Networking:
- Build and maintain a network of contacts within the Church, community, and the broader development sector.
- Collaborate with other organizations, Ministries and institutes for knowledge sharing and resource mobilization.
What we are looking for:
Education & Knowledge
- Bachelor's in related fields such as social work, sociology, community development, or international development.
Work Experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience in social work and community development.
- NGO/INGO experience will be preferred.
Functional Competencies/Skills:
- Able to build relationships and connect with diverse groups of people.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Active listening skills are also crucial for understanding the needs and concerns of the community.
- Ability to facilitate group discussions, conduct community meetings, and organize events that encourage participation and collaboration.
- Ability to analyze problems, think critically, and develop creative solutions is essential.
- Able to identify opportunities, overcome obstacles, and adapt strategies as needed.
- Managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in research methods and data analysis tools can be beneficial.
