Scope of Work -Draftsman
Project Background:
As part of the post 2022 floods recovery in Sindh, Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF), is leading a resilient housing reconstruction program for about 2.1 million households and carries a vision to systematically assess various flood affected settlements in Sindh to develop Climate Resilient Settlement Development Plan (CRSDP) with the technical support of CRS. This process is crucial for setting up, upgrading, and sustaining essential community infrastructures to improve access to basic public services. These plans would also help carry out the land entitlement process to vulnerable communities in Sindh.
Objective:
The Draftsman will play a critical supporting role in the development of essential infrastructure for flood-affected communities, working under the guidance of architects and engineers. The primary objective is to produce accurate and detailed 2D technical drawings and assist with basic 3D modeling to translate design concepts into precise construction documents.
These drawings will cover a range of facilities, including housing units, roads, pathways, social infrastructure, and utility services, contributing directly to the creation of safe, resilient, and sustainable settlements, in alignment with the project’s broader vision of promoting climate-resilient and green infrastructure, the Draftsman will ensure that all technical outputs reflect innovative and disaster-resilient design principles.
The role involves close collaboration with teams, adapting drawings based on evolving project requirements, site conditions, and feedback from field assessments, by maintaining high standards of accuracy, and compliance with technical guidelines, the Draftsman will support the efficient planning, and implementation of infrastructure solutions.
Through their technical expertise, the Draftsman will contribute significantly to the realization of a dignified and sustainable built environment, helping communities not only recover but also build resilience against future disasters.
Roles and Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing 2D and 3D technical drawings for settlements, including layouts for residential, social, and physical infrastructure.
- Chalk detailed plans, sections, elevations, and working drawings for roads, pathways, houses, and community facilities under the guidance of architects and engineers.
- Digitize collected field data and prepare technical drawings, layouts, and render images based on the analyzed information.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and technical teams to ensure that all drawings align with project requirements.
- Revise and update drawings based on feedback from architects and engineers.
- Ensure that all technical drawings meet local codes, technical specifications, and sustainability criteria.
- Maintain an organized filing system for designing documents, drafts, templates, and finalized drawings for easy access and future reference.
- Integrate basic sustainable and climate-resilient design elements into technical drawings where applicable.
- Provide timely support during design review meetings and presentations with updated drawings.
Deliverable:
- Drafted neighborhood layouts and plans developed in collaboration with architects and technical teams.
- Drafted technical drawings for infrastructure designs, with guidance and support to architects.
- Basic 2D & 3D layout plans or models of settlement implementation plans and infrastructure layouts.
- 2D and 3D architectural draft drawings for residential, social, and physical infrastructure.
- Technical drawings that comply with technical specifications and updated drawings and models based on feedback from architects, engineers.
- Drafts integrating basic sustainable and climate-resilient features as per design requirements.
- Maintained library of drafting files, materials, and software settings.
- preparation of complete 2D drawing packages for all settlements and support for mobilizing local draftsmen or architects.
Reporting Relationships:
The Draftsman will work under the supervision of the Architect and will collaborate closely with the project engineers and Cluster Managers, technical experts, and field teams to support the development of technical drawings and models.
Duration of Contract:
Contract duration for the Position/assignment will be approximately 7- Months and duration may increase or decrease depending upon the completion of task.
Required Competencies, Experience:
- Experience in drafting site layouts, settlement masterplans, and infrastructure designs.
- Knowledge of settlement planning, including land use, zoning, roads, drainage, and utilities.
- Ability to prepare detailed drawings for water and sanitation systems, housing plots and community structures.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit)
- Manage drawing sets, revisions, and project documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and compliance with standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proactive, flexible, and responsive feedback.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to mentor junior draftsmen or community trainees.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in architecture, Drafting, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and settlement layout designs.
Equipment Requirements:
- HP/Dell Generation i7,8th Generation, (RAM 16-GB (DDR4) SSD 256 GB).
- Battery Life Battery Backup at least 2 hours, on multimedia 4 hours on standby).
- Display (at least 14” full HD Display (1920x1080).
Preferred Skills:
- Strong understanding of architectural and engineering principles (structural layouts, material specifications, construction details).
- Experience in preparing detailed drawings for residential housing and community infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with settlement planning elements like road networks, drainage systems, waste management facilities, and public spaces.
