Job Summary:

The MEAL Assistant will support the effective implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities under the ILMpact Project. The role ensures quality monitoring, timely reporting, accountability to beneficiaries, and systematic learning to improve project performance in line with British Council standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Key Objective 

Task descriptions

Objective # 1:

Monitoring

  • Monitor education project activities including trainings, distributions, and awareness sessions to ensure compliance with project plans and quality standards.
  • Ensure quality and transparent distribution of teaching and learning materials in line with approved distribution plans and donor requirements.
  • Manage and update project data on the online data management platform/link provided by the donor, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Support data collection, entry, cleaning, and validation, using digital data collection tools such as KoBo Toolbox.
  • Facilitate schoolteachers in conducting pre- and post-assessments to measure learning outcomes and training effectiveness.
  • Support the project team in planning and conducting pre- and post-training assessments, including tool administration and data compilation.
  • Ensure adherence to data quality standards, including completeness, consistency, and confidentiality of education-related data.

Objective # 2:

Evaluation & Learning

  • Manage and maintain a project learning and documentation repository accessible to education and program staff at the district level.
  • Document and archive lessons learned, best practices, challenges, and gaps identified during project implementation.
  • Support learning, reflection, and review sessions to promote evidence-based improvements in education programming.
  • Attend weekly and monthly MEL meetings to share the quantitative and qualitative data with donor.
  •  Assist in data analysis and reporting of evaluation findings at the district level.
  • Maintain a structured archive of evaluation, research, and assessment data in coordination with the Country Office team.

 

Objective # 3:

Data Management & Reporting

  • Manage project data using digital data collection tools such as KoBo Toolbox, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
  • Upload, manage, and update quantitative project data on online data management links/platforms provided by the donor in a timely manner.
  • Support weekly project progress reporting by compiling and sharing quantitative data with the donor in coordination with the MEAL & MIS Coordinator.
  • Collect, verify, and analyze student enrollment data from the project team and update donor-shared online systems accordingly.
  • Facilitate schoolteachers in conducting pre- and post-assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
  • Support the project team in administering pre- and post-training assessments, including tool deployment, data collection, and consolidation.
  • Maintain organized digital and hard-copy data archives for monitoring, assessments, and reporting purposes.

Objective # 4:

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager relevant to the ILMpact Education Project.

 

Job Specifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • At least 1–2 years of experience in MEAL, preferably in education projects.
  • Experience with data collection tools (KoBo Toolbox or similar).
  • Familiarity with donor reporting and online data management systems.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong experience in data entry, cleaning, validation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and databases.
  • Experience using online data management systems and donor reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with KoBo Toolbox, DHIS2, or similar digital data collection tools is an asset.
  • Good understanding of data confidentiality and data quality standards.
