Z.M.K. & Co. invites applications for the position of Assistant Psychologist for the “Rights-Based Community Stabilization Project” (UNDP–DHL).

Background

UNDP Pakistan’s Decentralization, Human Rights and Local Governance (DHL) Project is implementing the Rights-Based Community Stabilization Project, which focuses on disengagement, rehabilitation, and reintegration of vulnerable youth through psychosocial support, skills-building, and community-level resilience initiatives. The project works with local communities, gender desks, academia, teachers, and religious/community leaders to strengthen resilience and create tolerance in target districts.

Purpose of the Position

The Assistant Psychologist will support the delivery of psychosocial interventions, assist with assessments, counseling, case management, and contribute to reporting and community engagement activities in Khyber. The role will work closely with the Psychologist and project team to support the MHPSS component.

Job Description 

  • Assist in conducting psychological assessments of targeted individuals, including women and girls.

  • Provide basic individual, family, and group counseling.

  • Support community awareness sessions and women-focused dialogue circles.

  • Maintain confidential case files and support referral pathways.

  • Assist in follow-ups, progress tracking, and service coordination with local health facilities.

  • Contribute to weekly and monthly reporting, documentation, and success stories.

  • Support capacity-building sessions for field staff under the guidance of the Psychologist.

  • Ensure ethical conduct, confidentiality, and safeguarding at all times.

Eligibility Criteria

Education

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from an HEC-recognized university.

  • Training in counseling, trauma-informed care, or Psychological First Aid is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 02 years of experience in community-level Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), including counseling and use of assessment tools.

  • Experience working with women and vulnerable groups.

  • Strong skills in documentation, case management, and psychosocial reporting.

  • Experience in newly merged districts is a significant asset.

  • Demonstrated gender-sensitive practice.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong empathy, active listening, and counseling skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with women, youth, and vulnerable groups.

  • Sensitivity to cultural and gender norms.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Team-oriented, reliable, and solution-focused.

Language Requirements

  • Pashto, Urdu, and English
