The Role:

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer will be expected to support in the planning and implementation of CABI MEL activities.

Key Responsibilities:

The MEL Officer will be expected to plan, manage and implement the monitoring, evaluation and learning activities in CABI within Asia region. He/She will be responsible but not limited to;

  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure timely reporting of data on indicators at CABI LogAlto system.
  • Collaborate with PlantwisePlus Country Coordinator(s) and other PW+ staff in implementation of PW+ MEL activities in Pakistan and other Asia region countries.
  • Contribute to and sometimes lead MEL study design and organizing survey field team.
  • Conduct monitoring field visits under projects within Asia region wherever and whenever needed. Develop reports of monitoring field visits.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative of collected data using MS Excel, SPSS, NVIVO and other relevant software.
  • Prepare drafts of narrative documents (evaluation reports, study TORs, working papers, articles).
  • Prepare illustrative and graphical presentations of the survey data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management.
  • Adhere to CABI policies and procedures at the centre, including HR procedures health and safety requirements, and project management procedures, and intellectual property rights procedures.

About You:

  • Good understanding of monitoring, evaluation and learning concepts, including the log frame, and theory of change approaches to project management.
  • Experience supervising teams in data collection and entry
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and tools development using online data collection tools, and familiarity with data management and analysis tools (knowledge of SPSS or Excel)
  • A dynamic agricultural professional with strong field experience.
  • Proven organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft office MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Experience and ability to work under pressure and within limited timeframes.
  • Willingness for field visits to travel to rural areas of Pakistan and possibly other Asian countries.
  • Fluency in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in agriculture or social sciences.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation and learning concepts.
  • Good in performing qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Experience of writing reports of evaluations, study TORs, articles and working papers.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in MEL or project management of projects in agriculture / environment / climate change sector.
  • Written and oral fluency in English

  • Ability to multi-task and deliver within strict deadlines and under pressure.

  • Willingness to undertake international travel.
